Yakeno Beach

The sunset viewed from the Yakeno Coastline stretching out at the base of Mt. Ryuo has been selected as one of the top 100 sunsets in Japan. It is a deeply stirring sight as the calm waters of Suo Bay are slowly dyed a deep red by the setting sun. During summer, visitors can enjoy swimming in the ocean. Kirara Koryukan is a lodging and seminar facility located on the coast, and offers a hot spring, restaurant, gift shop, lounge, and other facilities. Akiyoshidai Plateau[Japanese Geopark]

Akiyoshidai

Akiyoshidai was born eons ago as a coral reef in the far-off sea. Approximately 350 million years later, the result is a karst plateau – a limestone plateau containing sinkholes and caves, and one of the largest in Japan. Within the limestone can be seen fossils that indicate the long history of the Earth and Akiyoshidai, including fossils of coral and sea lilies. There are a number of trails through the natural expanse of Akiyoshidai where visitors enjoy walking and jogging.
