* Non-reserved tickets are cheaper than reserved seats, and more flexible as you can take any train that departs that day on that route; most often there will be plenty of open seats when you board, but very rarely, during busy times or seasons, you may end up having to stand. There are usually three non-reserved cars, two non-smoking and one smoking.

Many hotels require you to pay upon arrival, not in advance. Larger hotels will usually take credit cards, but some smaller places do not so it is best to bring cash. While many hotels and inns offer online reservation, some only accept reservations over the phone.
