How do you do hanami, or cherry blossom viewing?

花見

Cherry blossom viewing is simply the act of enjoying the beauty of the cherry blossom trees in bloom. The flower viewing can be enjoyed up close and from a distance. Many people associate hanami with a picnic, held all over the country. This can be at a public park or a private garden. Famous cherry blossom spots such as at castles or public parks may get crowded. It is common for people to come early in the morning and reserve a spot by spreading a tarp/picnic sheet. Invite your coworkers or friends, drink and eat, and enjoy the beauty of spring in Japan!
