2015 World Scout Jamboree in Yamaguchi City

For my second piece on Yamaguchi City, I would like to introduce you to a big event coming up in a couple of years: the 23rd World Scout Jamboree which will be held in Yamaguchi City at the Yamaguchi Kirarahama Beach. Boy Scout members from all over the world will gather and meet at Kirara Beach. Approximately 30,000 children from over 160 countries are expected to join various educational activities themed around 和, or A Spirit of Unity.

You can visit Kirarahama Beach now before everyone in the world gets to see it!

・Yamaguchi Kirara Expo Memorial Park – The Memorial Park has a sports field and a multi-purpose dome that will be able to hold the 30,000 people. It was also the venue for the 2001 Japan Expo and the 2006 National Cultural Festival.

・Kirarahama Nature Park – You can observe the birds that have migrated from Siberia and the Korean Peninsula. There are three ponds in the area; the brackish pond, freshwater pond, and the dragonfly pond.

・Yamaguchi Prefecture Seminar Park – Seminar Park is located 15 minutes away but will be used for the Jamboree. It is also another large facility that can hold many meetings, outdoor activities, and overnight guests.
