Yamaguchi Prefectural Library

The Yamaguchi Prefectural Library is a public library located in Yamaguchi City, owned by the Prefecture. It is located on Park Road, one of Japan’s Best 100 Roads, close to the Yamaguchi Prefectural Art Museum and Kameyama Park.

The Prefectural Library opened in July of 1903, but moved to its current location in July of 1973. The Prefectural Library not only is a public library but has Japan’s first archives section on the second floor. The building also has the Reference Room accessible to all citizens, which contains reference material about Yamaguchi, and a Meiji Restoration Reference Room. There are many picture books, including picture books in English, in the Children’s Room.

Anyone who lives in the Prefecture can obtain a library card. The Yamaguchi Prefectural Library is full with information and history on Yamaguchi. Please visit sometime!
