The new Chinese CIR who just recently came to Yamaguchi is from Liaocheng in Shandong Prefecture.
Liaocheng City is in western Shandong providence, and borders the province of Henan and Hebei. Total area of the city is 8,715 km2 and the population is approximately 6 million. Liaocheng is known for being a nationally historic and cultural city, an excellent tourist city, a nationally healthy city, and one of China’s top 10 relaxing cities. There is a phrase that describes the Water City as ”The city is surrounded by water, the water runs through the city, and shines as one big lake city.” In Hong Kong 2009, it was chosen as 7th place for China’s Top 10 Livable Cities.
Liaocheng has remarkable transportation and the best in the region. It takes approximately an hour to Jinan and Jinan Airport and about 4 hours to the port in Qingdao. The city provides transportation needed throughout Shandong providence.
Liaocheng has a history of over 2500 years regarding their castle. Many literary works were based off of the history in Liaocheng. Over 400 historic sites are preserved.
