Q&A

I am starting my first day of work soon. I heard self-introductions are very important in Japan. What should I say?

You can start off by saying Hajimemashite, which you say when you are meeting someone for the first time. It has the nuance of ”Nice to meet you.”

Secondly, make sure to say your name, Watashi no namae wa desu (My name is ) or to moushimasu.

Tell them where you are from, and after that, you can get creative by adding information such as hobbies or goals at your workplace.

Don’t forget to add a Dozo yoroshiku onegaishimasu at the end!
