Yamaguchi’s Local Sake


Yamaguchi’s Local Sake

Did you know that Yamaguchi has many types of delicious local sake? It is produced throughout the prefecture, using Yamaguchi’s high quality rice and pure water.


The Prefectural Agriculture and Forestry General Technology Center and Prefectural Industrial Technology Center collaborated to develop Saito no Shizuku, an original Yamaguchi brewer’s rice. Sake made from this rice has steadily grown in popularity.


Yeast from the sakura flower (cherry blossom) was isolated through the joint efforts of Ube National College of Technology, the Prefectural Industrial Technology Center, and local breweries. This yeast is called Yamaguchi Sakura Yeast and makes a mild, fruity sake.


Yamaguchi has many other types of sake that are popular throughout the county.


Let’s raise a toast to Yamaguchi’s local sake!
