Ryuozan Park

Facing the Seto Inland Sea, Ryuozan Park offers panoramic 360-degree views of the Kanmon Strait and as far as Shikoku and Kyushu. It also contains 10,000 cherry trees that turn the mountainside a light pink in the spring. The spectacular night view from this park has been certified as one of the Japan Night View Heritage Sites. In addition to cherry blossoms, visitors to the park can also enjoy azaleas, fall colors, and wildflowers.
There is also an auto camping site on the mountainside with full facilities and the largest number of campsites in western Japan.

Kirara Beach Yakeno (Yakeno Coast)

Yakeno Beach

The sunset viewed from the Yakeno Coastline stretching out at the base of Mt. Ryuo has been selected as one of the top 100 sunsets in Japan. It is a deeply stirring sight as the calm waters of Suo Bay are slowly dyed a deep red by the setting sun. During summer, visitors can enjoy swimming in the ocean. Kirara Koryukan is a lodging and seminar facility located on the coast, and offers a hot spring, restaurant, gift shop, lounge, and other facilities. The coast is also home to the Kirara Glass Miraikan, where visitors can experience glass-making for themselves.

Akiyoshidai Plateau[Japanese Geopark]

Akiyoshidai

Akiyoshidai was born eons ago as a coral reef in the far-off sea. ApproximaTely 350 million years later, the result is a karst plateau – a limestone plateau containing sinkholes and caves, and one of the largest in Japan. Within the limestone can be seen fossils that indicate the long history of the Earth and Akiyoshidai, including fossils of coral and sea lilies. There are a number of trails through the natural expanse of Akiyoshidai where visitors enjoy walking and jogging.

Akiyoshido Cave [Special Natural Monument][Japanese Geopark]

Akiyoshido Cave

Akiyoshido Cave is one of the largest limestone caves in Japan and is located 100m underneath Akiyoshidai plateau. Because the temperature inside the cave remains 17C year-round, cool in the summer and warm in the winter, visitors can always explore the cave in comfort. The numerous and widely varied unusual natural formations appear to be frozen in time, stirring feelings of awe in everyone who visits.

Onoda Tanabata Fireworks Festival

The Onoda Tanabata Fireworks Festival is held each year on August 7, and is a laser fireworks show produced by a collaboration of approximaTely 3,000 fireworks, laser beams, and music. The Tanabata Ornament Contest with many multicolored decorations is held at the same time. Visitors can also enjoy stage events and a widely varied bazaar at the main venue.
