The hot days of summer are once again upon us. Here are some terms to help you beat the heat!

Actions to Help You Cool Off

扇風機を回す（せんぷうきをまわす）－ to turn on an electric fan

泳ぐ（およぐ）－ to swim

海水浴に行く（かいすいよくにいく）－ to go for a swim

窓を開ける（まどをあける）－ to open a window

冷たいシャワーを浴びる（つめたいシャワーをあびる）－ to take a cold shower

日傘を差す（ひがさをさす）－ to open a parasol / sun umbrella

水着を買う（みずぎをかう）－ to buy a bathing suit

かき氷（ごおり）― shaved ice with syrup on top / snow cone

うちわ　－ a flat, circular fan

扇子（せんす）－ folding fan

エアコン　－ air conditioning
