Tokiwa Park

Tokiwa Park is a scenic multipurpose park that has been chosen as one of the top 100 urban parks in Japan, and as one of the top 100 sites for cherry blossom viewing in Japan. It is home to the Tokiwa Museum, which contains a greenhouse exhibiting Approximately 260 kinds of tropical plants, a cactus garden with the largest number of cactus types in western Japan, and other plant and sculpture exhibits. Families will also enjoy the amusement park with a Ferris wheel, merry-go-round, and other attractions, as well as the zoo.

Fujigochi Tea Garden

This tea plantation is the largest in western Japan and covers Approximately 65hectares of low hills, producing magnificent scenery. There is a gift shop Approximately 10 minutes from the tea garden by car that also offers tours of the tea factory and tea picking experiences.

Akiyoshidai Plateau[Japanese Geopark]

Akiyoshidai was born eons ago as a coral reef in the far-off sea. Approximately 350 million years later, the result is a karst plateau – a limestone plateau containing sinkholes and caves, and one of the largest in Japan. Within the limestone can be seen fossils that indicate the long history of the Earth and Akiyoshidai, including fossils of coral and sea lilies. There are a number of trails through the natural expanse of Akiyoshidai where visitors enjoy walking and jogging.

Akiyoshido Cave[Special Natural Monument][Japanese Geopark]

Akiyoshido Cave is one of the largest limestone caves in Japan and is located 100m underneath Akiyoshidai plateau. Because the temperature inside the cave remains 17C year-round, cool in the summer and warm in the winter, visitors can always explore the cave in comfort. The numerous and widely varied unusual natural formations appear to be frozen in time, stirring feelings of awe in everyone who visits.

The Yamaguchi Ube Fireworks Festival is an annual event of the summer that is much loved by local residents. The highlight of the festival is the famous Ube City ”musical fireworks,” a performance which uses digital control to synchronize the launch of fireworks with the music. Experience the excitement of the largest independently operated fireworks festival in Yamaguchi Prefecture.
