Caledonian Sky’s First Stop of the Year in Shimonoseki
On April 10, 2015 the British cruise ship Caledonian Sky stopped at the Port of Shimonoseki and the Port of Hagi. This was her first time stopping in Yamaguchi Prefecture this year. A welcoming ceremony was held within the ship in Shimonoseki, and the send off took place in Hagi as the passengers continued on their journey to the Port of Sakai.
Welcoming Ceremony
The welcoming ceremony was held aboard the ship. Mr. Sakata, Deputy Director General of the Shimonoseki Port & Harbor Bureau started it off with a welcome speech in English. The captain was presented with a bouquet, commemorative plaque, and a tie emblazoned with Shimonoseki’s signature dish, the blowfish. Each of the passengers were presented with souvenirs including traditional hand towels and postcards, when they disembarked at the terminal.
The Send-Off
Passengers moved by bus from Shimonoseki to Hagi and enjoyed a tour through the city of Hagi. During that time, the Caledonian Sky headed to the Port of Hagi. Members of Hagi’s Tourism Division assembled at the port to see off the Caledonian Sky.
The Caledonian Sky left the Port of Hagi at 6 o’clock that afternoon, heading for the Port of Sakai. She is scheduled to visit Hagi a total of three times by May 4.
