Asuka Ii makes port of call at Senzaki, Nagato 2 years in a row!

On May 12, 2017, the luxury cruise ship Asuka Ii made a port of call off the coast of Senzaki Fishing Port in Nagato city. In the morning, passengers boarded a sightseeing ship and came ashore to a grand welcoming from children from Misuzu Nursery and Aoi Kindergarten. “Welcome to Nagato!” The children’s energetic and adorable voices filled the air, making all the passengers smile.

Passengers enjoyed themselves at the event venue lined up with a wealth of various tent booths showcasing the prides of Nagato such as yakitori, fresh fish from the sea, footbaths from Tawarayama hot springs, and more. Near the tent booths were taiko drumming and dance performances that livened up the gallery.

In the evening, locals boarded a sightseeing ship which ran side by side Asuka Ii in order to send off the passengers heading to their next location. Even though it began to rain in the afternoon, passengers onboard Asuka Ii expressed their gratitude with “Thank you!” to the locals who waved their handkerchiefs and yelled back “Come back again!” Nature was not on their side, but the warm hospitality from Senzaki, Nagato city was surely conveyed to the passengers. Come back again, Asuka Ii!
