“Nippon Maru” makes its first port of call to Yanai Port!
On Friday, January 12, 2018, Nippon Maru stopped at Yanai Port for the first time. It was a first for Yanai Port to receive a port of call from a cruise ship.
At the port, local elementary school students welcomed the passengers to Yamaguchi by handing them handmade picture letters. Passengers were also given a welcome drink made of local citrus vinegar called “Kikka-su” and treated to red and white freshly pounded rice cakes.
Passengers enjoyed various tourist spots in Yamaguchi including passing under a flower gate composed of 1200 carnations set up for that day, visiting the “White Wall Historical District” in Yanai city, seeing “Kintaikyo Bridge” and touring the local “Dassai” sake brewery in Iwakuni city, joining a gourmet tour in Suo-Oshima town, and more.
