About Kintaikyo Bridge
Kintaikyo Bridge is a stunning wooden structure consisting of five consecutive arches spanning the Nishiki River in Iwakuni City, located in the eastern part of Yamaguchi Prefecture. It is celebrated as one of Japan’s Three Famous Bridges.
About Fuku-Daruma
Fuku-Daruma is the official tourism mascot of Yamaguchi Prefecture. The prefecture is renowned for its blowfish, known as fugu in Japanese. Interestingly, the word “fuku” (a common pronunciation for blowfish) also means “happiness” or “good fortune” in Japanese, making the fish a symbol of luck. Daruma dolls are likewise considered auspicious in Japan. By combining these two lucky symbols, Fuku-Daruma embodies our heartfelt wish to double the happiness of everyone visiting Yamaguchi.
Exclusive Clear File
This limited-edition clear file is available only to participants of this bus tour. Its design features Fuku-Daruma enjoying the surroundings of Kintaikyo Bridge, set against the backdrop of “Kintaikyo Bridge in Suo Province,” one of the works from Famous Bridges in Various Provinces, a celebrated ukiyo-e(Japanese woodblock prints and paintings depicting scenes of everyday life, landscapes, kabuki actors, and beautiful women)series by the renowned artist Katsushika Hokusai, who flourished about 200 years ago.
Hagi Uragami Museum
Located in Hagi City, the Hagi Uragami Museum showcases exquisite ukiyo-e prints by artists such as Katsushika Hokusai, alongside beautiful East Asian ceramics. The building was designed by Kenzo Tange, the world-renowned architect behind Hiroshima’s Peace Memorial Park. The museum has earned two stars in the Michelin Green Guide Japan, signifying it is “worth a detour.” It is a must-visit destination during your trip to Yamaguchi.
